Berkley Riverfront Parking Management Program Set to Start on June 1, 2026

May 20, 2026

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Due to the growth of Berkley Riverfront and increased demand for parking, Port KC will be implementing a parking management program for visitors and residents that will start on Monday, June 1, 2026.

In preparation for a significant influx of visitors, increasing neighborhood activities and new residents, a parking management approach is being enacted. Safe, reliable access for emergency vehicles, clear circulation and reduced congestion along with consistent and predictable parking availability are top priorities with the implementation of this parking management program.

“Berkley Riverfront has grown and as we welcome more residents and visitors to the riverfront, it’s an absolute necessity that parking spots be available for everyone to utilize them,” said Jon Stephens, President and CEO of Port KC. “The new parking management program will allow more Kansas Citians and visitors from around the Kansas City metro area to enjoy our beautiful Missouri Riverfront.”

Kansas City’s infrastructure continues to grow and accessing Berkley Riverfront now includes riding the KC Streetcar which recently started expanded service to the new Riverfront Station, walking and biking via the new Grand Avenue bike/pedestrian bridge which connects Berkley Riverfront to the River Market, utilizing KCATA bus service which operates throughout the neighborhood, and using vehicular access on Berkley Parkway.

New parking signs around Berkley Riverfront will be installed on May 20, 2026. The paid parking management program goes live and will be enforced 24 hours per day, seven days a week starting on June 1, 2026.

The implementation of this parking management program improves safety, better manages high demand for parking and supports increased activity that the Riverfront now experiences. Unsafe driving behavior such as parking in fire lanes, crosswalks and ADA spaces has been reported and documented over the past few months, so Port KC is proactively addressing the matter by enacting a measured, user-friendly parking management approach.
