Happy Boss’s Day and congrats to our President & CEO Jon Stephens for 2 years at Port KC!

Under Jon’s leadership, Port KC has continued to advance our mission for Kansas City. Here is some of the news we have shared over the past two years:

    • December 2018: Port KC moves its offices to Berkley Riverfront.

    • Summer 2019: After taking ownership of the Port of Kansas City – Woodswether Terminal, Port KC begins several infrastructure improvement projects including replacing damaged moorings and adding a second storage dome. This dome more than doubles Port KC’s capacity to store fertilizer that is on its way to local farmers.

    • July 2019: Port KC selects KPMG as financial advisors, completing the consultant team for the Missouri River Terminal project.

    • October 2019: The Kansas City Business Journal designates Port KC as a “Best Place to Work.”

    • October 2019: Port KC begins work to finance the redevelopment of the former Bannister Federal Complex.

    • Winter 2019: With the cancellation of CenterPoint’s options on the land, Port KC takes the lead in developing Richards-Gebaur Commerce Park.

    • Spring 2020: AltCap and Port KC partner to provide loans to small businesses in need through the COVID-19 Small Business Relief Loan Fund.

    • September 2020: The Federal Transit Administration announces the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension Project will receive $14.2 million in federal funding

    • October 2020: The US Department of Transportation announces the Missouri River Terminal project will receive a $9.88 million grant.

We thank Jon for his leadership and vision!
