ASB Underpass
2010
Previous to its construction, the Riverfront Heritage Trail was bifurcated by the still-active Armour-Swift-Burlington bridge, separating River Market from Berkley Riverfront Park. This barrier was removed in 2010 with the construction of the ASB Underpass, a concrete trail that passes under the bridge.
Simultaneously, the ASB monument was constructed from the foundations of the former Missouri Pacific Produce Terminal building. The six monuments were constructed to emulate the ASB Bridge counterweights.
This project was the result of partnerships between Port KC, BNIM, Taliaferro & Browne, Kissick Construction, the American Society of Civil Engineers, Ameristar Casino, and MoDOT.
