USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture – Penn St

2020

Port KC supported regional efforts to attract the USDA relocation of agri-research jobs to Kansas City. The Economic Research Service (ERS) and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) brought 334 new jobs to Kansas City.

The AIM Zone revenue for the USDA relocation is allocated between the project to make building improvements and Port KC. Our revenues directly support infrastructure replacements at the Woodswether Port Terminal. As with all AIM Zone projects, tenants continue to pay local taxes. Port KC issued $15.5 million in bonds to help with the project’s expenses.

This attraction bid was a partnership between Port KC, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the MO Partnership, the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC), the Missouri and Kansas Federal Delegations, and the City of KCMO.
