Jon is an economic development professional who has spent his career focused on utilizing thoughtful development concepts to improve the community. He is passionate about his city, and has built a reputation for creativity and collaboration.

Previous leadership roles include serving as president of one of the largest urban redevelopment districts in America, director of economic development for Kansas City, Kansas, and CEO of VisitKC. And, as an entrepreneur, he has guided boards and corporations to innovative success.. 

A University of Missouri alumnus, Jon is a frequent speaker on civic issues, and is an active board member for many organizations, including Visit KC, KC Streetcar, KCPT, Arts KC and the KCADC.

Renee is responsible for day-to-day office administrative duties, interacting with clients, answering phone calls and emails, and coordinating activities throughout the company. She works with the team to assist with development/finance, legal, marketing, and accounting services. She also provides support to the President & CEO.

Renee holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri and a Master’s Degree in Education/Sports Administration from Wichita State University. Before coming to Port KC Renee spent time in marketing and events in the college athletics, education, nonprofit and corporate fields.

Joe oversees the management, development and marketing of properties owned or operated by Port KC. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the real estate finance, marketing, development, architecture, urban planning, public policy, public/private finance and development disciplines.

Before coming to Port KC, he spent eight years as commercial director for Gale Communities, Inc. where he managed planning, zoning, infrastructure, and building construction. He has public/private financing experience managing tax increment financing and transportation development district projects.

He holds a degree in Real Estate Finance from the University of Missouri – Columbia and a degree in Architecture and Urban Design from the University of Kansas. He is a licensed real estate professional in the states of Missouri and Kansas.

James oversees the ongoing operations and maintenance of Port KC’s real estate assets. He also works with the team to formulate and implement long-range real estate management strategies.

He brings experience in asset management, financial reporting, underwriting, and work-outs on a wide range of commercial real estate. He has worked with a variety of investors including: banks, CMBS pools, life insurance companies, REITs, GSEs and portfolio lenders. Prior to relocating back to the Kansas City area, he was most recently with PNC Real Estate in Chicago working on an origination team financing senior housing developments nationwide.

James received a Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Northern Iowa.

Krishan is responsible for the planning, execution, and project management of multiple real estate development projects across Port KC’s portfolio of real estate assets. As the development lead for Berkley Riverfront Development, he works with developers, financiers, architects, engineers, land planners, landscape architects, environmental professionals, and other technical service providers to effectively manage project development activities prior to construction.

With a background in the renewable energy development industry, Krishan spent more than six years developing expertise in project development, project finance, technical and commercial due diligence, environmental permitting, underwriting and project management. His time in the industry afforded him the ability to develop large, utility-scale solar and wind projects in the US and help change the energy landscape.

Krishan holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Sam Houston State University, a Bachelor’s in Sustainability and Renewable Energy from Arizona State University, and is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional. As an avid outdoor enthusiast, mountain lover, hiker, and backpacker, Krishan is in aggressive pursuit of completing all 53 Colorado fourteeners. He also loves to travel to new countries, loves culture, adventure, people, and cooking.

His extensive career in the maritime industry has afforded him a wide breadth of experience and innovation in the transportation/logistics field. His corporate career of more than 35 years includes many aspects of marine and terrestrial transportation in international and domestic arenas.

A native of London England, Richard graduated in 1970 from the Naval Training school “Arethusa” in Kent England. Richard attended King Edward VII nautical College (University of London) and Plymouth Polytechnic (Exeter University) earning his DOT Second mates Certificate FG.

As Vice President and General Counsel at Port KC, Mark Coulter has been instrumental in defining strategic vision for the organization, from expansion of Kansas City’s riverfront and port facilities, to exciting real estate development projects, land reclamation, historic preservation, and uncovering untapped commercial opportunities. Mark’s background in government and law has made it possible for him to draft and lobby for key legislation and appropriations signed into law in the Missouri General Assembly every year for five consecutive years. Mark also serves as the primary staff in the vision, organization and execution of a large-scale Public Private Partnership (P3) project currently underway.

Prior to joining Port KC, Mark was Primary Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Clinton County, Missouri. From 2000 to 2006, Mark was active in United States and Missouri State politics. Mark served in the Kansas Army National Guard. Following his time in the Army, he also served in the Air Force Reserves. Mark is a lifetime member of the DAV.

Mark received his Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law in 2009 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri, Columbia.  He completed graduate coursework in International Law at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and in Public Affairs at Park University’s Hauptmann School of Public Affairs.

Mark is a Board Member of the Clinton County R-3 School District, Past President and Board Member of the Mid-America Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, served on the Planning Committee for the Missouri Bar Association’s Annual Meeting and Judicial Conference, and currently serves on the Night at the Tower Host Committee for the National World War I Museum and Memorial.

Brian assists the General Counsel in overseeing all legal matters on behalf of Port KC.

He was most recently a Senior Associate City Attorney for the City of Kansas City, Mo., and handled legal matters related to economic development incentives. Prior to that, he served as a law clerk to the Hon. Paul M. Spinden (Ret.) and as an Assistant Attorney General for governmental affairs in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Brian is licensed to practice law in Missouri. He earned his degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he served on the editorial board of the Missouri Law Review.

Mariah educates, informs and updates the community on everything Port KC. She leads all communications, including media outreach, social media engagement and website management. She also works closely with Friends of the River, Port KC’s non-profit arm, and supports the community through coordinating sponsorships and Berkley Riverfront events programming.

Mariah graduated from Truman State University with a Bachelor’s degree in English. She is an advocate for shelter animals and education and is an active volunteer for Great Plains SPCA and Lead to Read KC.
