KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension

This riverfront extension will lay almost one mile of track from the existing 3rd & Grand station to Berkley Riverfront. This important public transportation connection will increase safety and riverfront access, reconnecting the River Market for all Kansas Citians. The project began in March 2024, and when completed, the entire KC streetcar system will stretch nearly 6.5 miles.

The streetcar’s addition is expected to accelerate the economic development of Berkley Riverfront. Future extensions east and north of the terminus are being studied and contemplated. The main line has been a proven catalyst for new development. 

A separate extension project will continue the streetcar south, further connecting Kansas City from the river to UMKC.
